How to Connect via FTP Using Your cPanel Username

In your FTP client of choice, you will need 4 items to log in (host, username, and password). Use the following items to log in:

  1. Host: YOURDOMAIN.com *Note: you can also use "ftp.YOURDOMAIN.com" which will use port 21 as the default. You can also use the IP address of your server.
  2. Username: Your cPanel Username
  3. Password: Your cPanel Password
  4. Port: 21 *Note: Port 21 is the default port for FTP.
  5. Click connect.

Perform these steps to configure an FTP client:

  1. Install CoreFTP or Cyberduck on your computer. Please note that cPanel only supports auto-configuration for these FTP clients. If you would like to use another client, you will need to configure the client manually.
  2. On your cPanel -> FTP Accounts section, click Configure FTP Client for the desired FTP account

Note: Using FTP is useful because you can download and upload files for your website.
